Food, hospitality & commercial lifestyle photography rooted in atmosphere and storytelling
Some people see a finished dish. I see the story behind it. The flour dusted across a worktop. The herbs picked moments before service. The chef tasting a sauce one last time. The hands that shaped, chopped, stirred, baked, and plated every ingredient that made its way to the table. For me, food has never just been about what's on the plate. It's about where it came from, who made it, and the experience of sharing it. That's what continues to draw me to food photography.
I know having a camera in your space can feel a little daunting at first, so I always aim to make the experience feel easy, collaborative and even fun. When everyone relaxes, that natural energy comes through in the images, and that’s what helps them feel inviting and real.
Food is one of the few things we experience with all of our senses. We notice texture before we've even taken a bite. We imagine crunch, softness, warmth, richness. We can almost taste something simply by looking at it. That's what makes food photography so interesting. The challenge isn't simply showing what's on the plate. It's creating images that make people want to reach for a fork, visit a restaurant, buy the product, or turn the page to the recipe.
For lifestyle and on-location work, I can use film or digital, or both. Shooting on 35mm film brings a softer, more natural quality, capturing light, texture and movement in a way that feels less staged and more lived-in. It’s a slower, more considered approach that works particularly well for spaces where atmosphere and detail matter. Want to know more about Analogue Photography for your Brand? For me, food and drink photography is about capturing real moments, beautiful food and the story behind your brand.
We will usually start with a chat about your ideas, what you would like to capture, and anything specific you want the images to focus on. And if you are not quite sure yet, that’s absolutely fine too, I am always happy to help shape ideas and guide the creative direction. From there, the shoot tends to unfold in a very natural, documentary way. Of course we will capture the moments we have planned for, but I’m always paying attention to the in-between ones too, because those are often the images that feel the most honest, atmospheric and full of life.
